Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Development of a tropical cyclone over the northwestern Caribbean Sea is likely during the next couple of days.  With this system expected to move generally northward, those in the eastern half of the U.S. Gulf Coast region will need to monitor its progress.  Meanwhile, a cold front currently stretching from the lower Great Lakes region to Texas will drift southeastward, helping to focus shower and thunderstorm activity.  Additional rainfall in the vicinity of the front could total 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts.  Some of the heaviest rain could fall in the drought-stricken central Appalachians and Ohio Valley.  In contrast, mostly dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days along and northwest of a line from western Texas to Lake Superior, except for some late-week precipitation in the Pacific Northwest.  A general warming trend will accompany the warmth across the western and central U.S., with mid- to late-week temperatures rebounding to 90°F or higher as far north as the northern High Plains.
