Late-season heat to gradually build next week from northwest to southeast

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures and near- or below-normal rainfall across most of the country.  Cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to the Deep South, excluding southern Florida.

Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal weather should be limited two areas: from the Pacific Northwest to the northern High Plains, and from the southern half of Texas to the southern Atlantic Coast.
