Unseasonably mild to warm, periodically active pattern ahead across much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nearly nationwide, while cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to the Pacific Coast States.

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation across large sections of the Plains and Southwest should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in the western Gulf Coast region and most areas east of the Mississippi River, as well as northern and central California, the Great Basin, and the Northwest.
