57% of U.S. corn, 58% of soybeans good to excellent

U.S. corn and soybean ratings held over the past week as harvest advanced. Weather was mixed again last week and while it is early, parts of the Midwest and Plains did see harvest delaying rainfall.

The USDA says 57% of U.S. corn is rated good to excellent, unchanged, and 13% is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 11%, with 92% dented and 58% mature.

58% of soybeans are in good to excellent shape, steady, and 12% is harvested, compared to 8% on average, while 62% of the crop is dropping leaves.

17% of winter wheat is planted and 2% has emerged, both behind most recent years, partially due to rain.

96% of spring wheat is harvested, matching the usual pace.

34% of cotton is called good to excellent, down 2%, and 13% is harvested with 65% of bolls opening.

73% of rice is harvested, compared to the typical rate of 60%.

27% of sorghum is in good to excellent condition, 1% lower, while 88% is coloring, 56% is mature, and 25% is harvested.

53% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are reported as poor to very poor, rising 2%.
