Ag Secretary signals ‘very soon’ announcement on diesel costs facing farmers

A Trump administration official suggests an announcement addressing high diesel prices is coming soon.

U.S. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins attended the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin Wednesday and said the administration understands the impact on farmers with diesel twice the price of a year ago.

“Boy, we see it and we get it. There is, I don’t want to jump ahead of the President, but there will be an announcement very soon on this specific issue.”

She says expanding domestic production and using more biofuels will help long-term.

“But for right now it’s a very significant issue, we hear it, we’re working on it. And hopefully some really good help is coming for the short-term, but for the long-term we’ve got this under control and we’ll continue working on that.”
