Chairman Thompson says House farm bill passage likely on Thursday

House Ag Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson says he expects the full U.S. House to pass its farm bill on Thursday.
“With any degree of luck, the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 will be passed out of the House by noon (Thursday).”
Speaking with farm broadcasters at the NAFB’s 2026 Washington Watch on Wednesday morning, he said E15 will be voted on as a standalone bill.
“The strategy leadership settled on was that was going to be a separate bill,” Thompson said. “Whether that will be merged at some point, that’s yet to be seen. But it is included. It’s included with the package of bills that the rules c ommittee has dispensed with.”
Thompson says E15 doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the ag committee.
“I’ve said all along that’s a decision above my pay grade. The energy and commerce committee would need to sign off on that, which it appears it must have.”
Democratic Congresswoman Angie Craig of Minnesota told reporters she’ll be voting in favor of the standalone E15 bill, but added “it’s not her favorite bill.”
