Dairy Nourishes Florida is expanding access to dairy foods for families in need

Florida Dairy Farmers are helping strengthen food security in underserved communities across the state.
Teresa Moran-Wiebe, vice president of health and wellness, says Dairy Nourishes Florida is helping expand access to fresh dairy foods for families in need.
“Dairy provides high-quality protein and 13 essential nutrients that many families don’t get enough of,” she says. “Making milk, cheese, and yogurt available through food banks helps families put more nutritious meals on their tables.”
She tells Brownfield the program part of a larger industry-wide effort to increase access to locally produced dairy.
“Our mission is to ensure that every visit to a Florida food bank includes access to nourishing dairy foods for all communities, while also building trust in dairy,” she says.
Wiebe says the partnership with food banks and processors is creating new opportunities for dairy producers to help meet demand across the food supply chain.
The statewide initiative is modeled after the Dairy Nourishes Michigan program.
