Ethanol production back on higher track

U.S. ethanol production bounced back last week as seasonal maintenance eased.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.053 million barrels per day, up 46,000 on the week, but down 18,000 on the year, partially due to tighter corn supplies caused by harvest delays.

Ethanol stocks were just above their lowest point of 2026 at 23.743 million barrels, falling 122,000 from the previous week thanks to good demand and that recent seasonal maintenance but rising 1.023 million from a year ago because of the overall increase in production.

The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs of ethanol purchased by refiners and blenders hit a six-month bottom, while the volume of gasoline supplied to the market was slightly higher.

Ethanol exports averaged 166,000 barrels per day, 24,000 more the week before and 28,000 larger than last year.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use guess is out Friday.
