Minnesota farm-to-table business faces higher costs as fuel prices rise

A farm-to-table business owner says rising fuel prices are negatively impacting her bottom line.

Traci Walkowski sells produce and pasture raises turkeys and chickens in Hutchinson, Minnesota and tells Brownfield traveling to farmers markets is getting more expensive.

“Obviously we don’t see the impact as much as someone who’s using gallons of diesel to you know harvest, but we still see that impact across the board.”

She says other costs are also higher.

“Because of that price of fuel and getting the goods to where we need to get them to.”

Walkowski is a member of Minnesota Farm Bureau’s LeadAg Program and was part of a recent D.C. fly-in.  She says lawmakers are receptive to concerns about high fuel prices and are working to address it.
