Missouri farmers resume spring planting after weeks of rain delays

Missouri farmers have resumed spring planting following multiple weeks of cool, wet conditions.

Nathan Alpers is in Cooper County. He tells Brownfield it’s been a long planting season and some fields are so wet they need replanted.

“Some of these last few days that I planted, we got pounded with two inches of rain and it came down hard.”

Darrell Aldrich in Clay County says while there have been rain delays, he’s optimistic good progress will be made.

“We’ve got a few more acres of corn and soybean acres to plant.”

Aldrich says it shouldn’t take long to wrap things up if the weather stays nice, and some farmers are finished with planting.

The USDA will have a weekly update on crop progress and conditions Monday afternoon.
