USDA’s 2025 farm program payments reach record $13.8 billion

The USDA’s 2025 farm program payments being issued are the largest since the programs were established in the 2014 Farm Bill.

“I think it will be surprising and will depend on where you’re at in the country,” says Richard Fordyce, Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation at USDA.

The Farm Service Agency’s Ag Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs are providing $13.8 billion in gross payments.

Under Secretary Fordyce says the reference price update helped boost payments, and farmers should receive them any day.

“We’ll put dollars in their accounts or send them a check, depending on how they want to do it.”

USDA says PLC payments were triggered for several crops including corn, grain sorghum, rice, seed cotton, soybeans and wheat. ARC-County payments are based on county levels, triggering at the county level.

Under Secretary Fordyce says county offices can provide more details about the 2025 farm program payments, along with the 2026 farm program enrollment and upcoming 2027 sign-up.

Brownfield interviewed Fordyce at the University of Missouri last week.
