Walz expands load limits to help Minnesota farmers cut fall fuel costs
Minnesota farmers will be able to transport heavier loads this fall following an executive order from Governor Walz addressing record high diesel prices.
The proclamation says vehicles transporting agricultural and forest products can exceed regular weight limits by up to 10 percent on state and local highways.
Walz says by allowing producers and haulers to move more products per trip, the order helps conserve fuel and reduce costs during the critical harvest season.
The order also provides temporary hours-of-service relief for motor carriers and drivers transporting fuel products, including diesel, ethanol, and biodiesel, as part of emergency relief efforts.
