Iowa farmer ‘feels betrayed’ by federal government
One of those testifying at the recent RFS hearing in Des Moines was Bill Couser, a farmer and cattleman from Nevada, Iowa. Couser has also been very involved in the ethanol industry. He is a founder of the Lincolnway Energy ethanol plant at Nevada and a former president of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association.
“As a farmer of this great country, I feel betrayed by the powers above,” Couser said. “We did what was asked of us—we have made this country less dependent on foreign oil. But we continue to have to defend what was asked of us.”
