Proposal to expand AgBMP program in Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says a new proposal would bring clean drinking water to more rural landowners.
The AgBMP loan program currently offers low interest loans used for best management practices that prevent, reduce or eliminate rural water pollution problems.
An amendment being proposed by Governor Dayton expands eligibility to those seeking improvement for private wells that don’t comply with drinking water standards.
Department of Ag Commissioner Dave Frederickson says this would allow for many more loan requests, and more information can be found online at mda dot state dot mn dot us.
