From tire shop to pool deck: Tracy FFA members shine at state level
Two members of an FFA chapter in southwest Minnesota won Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) proficiency awards during the state FFA Convention.
Tracy Area FFA president Elijah Lightfoot says winning the Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement is an honor.
“A placement proficiency is just a job that you have, so I work at a tire shop in Tracy. I change tires (and) do anything with tires. My grandpa owns the shop and I help him fix tractors, combines.”
Fellow Tracy FFA member Shelby Johnson received a proficiency award in the Outdoor Recreation placement.
“I work at Tracy Aquatic Center, and I started just as a front desk person and my responsibilities have grown since then. I became a lifeguard and I got my certification. But my favorite part is being WSI certified, so I get to teach swimming lessons to children and it’s so much fun.”
