Applications open for Organic Certification Cost Share Program

The organic grain mentorship coordinator with The Land Connection says a long-awaited financial assistance opportunity is now open for organic producers.

Kaite Bishop says the USDA is accepting applications for the Organic Certification Cost Share Program.

“For 2025 and 2026, so there had been some stalling with funding, but you can get 75% of the costs associated with the certification or up to $750 per scope,” she says.

She tells Brownfield the reimbursement is available to both organic grain and livestock farmers.

“This covers the application fee or paying the certifier to come out and do the inspection.”  She says, “It’s just helping to reimburse for the costs that are associated with being certified organic.”

Bishop says applications for the program are due by December 31, 2026, and producers should contact their local Farm Service Agency office to learn more.
