CHS to build soy processing facility in southern Wisconsin

CHS plans to begin construction on a new soy processing plant in south-central Wisconsin soon.

CHS senior vice president of product lines Brian Schouvieller says the facility in Evansville will have the capacity to process 80 million bushels of soybeans annually.

“It’s going to create new market opportunities and meet demand for soybean meal and soybean oil in the new marketplace for renwable fuels.”

He tells Brownfield there’s good soybean production in the region.

“There’s a lot of livestock in the area for the meal offtake. As well, there’s rail access, barge access, and a good truck access to different markets for the oil offtake as well.”

With construction expected to begin in the coming weeks, Schouvieller says the plant should be operational by the fall of 2028.

CHS expects to employ around 80 people and produce approximately one billion pounds of soybean oil and two million tons of soymeal annually.
