U.S. Senator Joni Ernst says she supports Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins’ decision to sell off the USDA’s South Building.

“The previous administration’s USDA denied their ghost town, but Secretary Rollins took action on this.”

The Iowa Republican says the USDA no longer needs the South Building, which she says is mostly vacant.

“Even after President Trump’s return to work order, which was right at the beginning of this administration, and the USDA doubling down on the number of employees in the office – nearly two-thirds of this space is still unused.”

Ernst says taxpayer dollars need to be used wisely, and government officials need to cut ties with vacant facilities.

‘We’ve got many, many more of these federal government unused buildings yet to go.”

Ernst noted that the USDA’s South Building was costing the government $1.6 billion in delinquent maintenance.
