Primient expands regenerative agriculture efforts to help boost farmer profitability

A director of raw material procurement and trading says investments in regenerative agriculture could help strengthen the food supply chain and create opportunities for farmers.
Brad Morrison is with corn-processor Primient.
“We are promoting practices that can improve soil and water conservation,” he says. “We want to help producers produce more corn and help them be more profitable through regenerative production.”
The company recently partnered with Sustainea, a company that uses plant-based materials for everyday use, to support soil health and carbon sequestration on 1,000 acres in Lafayette, Indiana.
Morrison tells Brownfield the initiative is connecting farmers with university researchers to promote on-farm adoption.
“They know what works and what doesn’t work on each individual farm,” he says. “Working with these entities to provide support is the best way to help producers start looking at some of these practices and working them into their operations.”
Morrison says making conservation more profitable is key to long-term adoption.
Primient has invested in increasing the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices across thousands of acres in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio since 2018.
