Retrofitting gaining momentum as farmers seeks cost-effective equipment upgrades

The CEO of equipment dealer AgRevolution says producers are looking to add new technology to older equipment as ag equipment costs continue to rise. 

Stacy Anthony says many farmers are retrofitting instead of investing in new machinery. 

“We’re seeing farmers look at something on the Precision Planting side of things where they can reduce their input costs and optimize their fertilizer inputs,” he says. “Anything that can add value, that can press expense or can help optimize yield and income. That’s really what they’re navigating towards.”

He tells Brownfield the industry is continuing to work with farmers to try to make purchases work within their budgets.

“We’re being creative on the financing side,” he says. “We’re trying to do whatever we can to right size those payments into the cash flow operation of that business. That looks different for everyone, but sometimes it’s just stretching out the trade cycle and stretching out that finance.”

Anthony says choosing the right equipment can help farmers maximize their return on investment as they try to manage costs heading into another tight margin year.
