Wisconsin reports new HPAI case in backyard flock
The state of Wisconsin has confirmed a new case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in a backyard flock.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says the Racine County flock is the second detection of the virus this fall, following a commercial case in Barron County last month.
Officials are strongly encouraging producers to strengthen biosecurity measures to protect their flocks and herds from the disease.
USDA says nearly 11 flocks have been detected with the virus over the past 30 days, impacting more than 520,000 birds, mainly through the Upper Midwest.
