Irish horse loses Olympic gold medal to drugs

The luck of the Irish couldn’t beat the blood tests done by a team of experts at last year’s Olympic Games. The International Equestrian Federation has ruled jumping horse Waterford Crystal unfit to wear a gold medal from the `04 games. Rider Cian O’Connor continues to argue that no wrongdoing has occurred, despite the IEF ruling. The horse tested positive for two sedatives, which O’Conner says were administered well before the games to treat an injury. The IEF ruling did find that the drugs were not performance enhancers, but nonetheless illegal in competition.
