SE Nebraska Field Update

Pioneer Area Agronomist Darren Barker expects much of the corn and soybean planting to be wrapped up this week if weather holds. Early emergence on corn looks good with no major issues. In southern Nebraska, there have been some reports of soil crusting and wash-out so there will be some replanting in those areas.

It’s a little early to tell much about soybeans, but overall, early emergence looks good. Barker reminds farmers to keep eyes open for bean leaf beetle and alfalfa weevil in the alfalfa crop.
