Renewables conference focuses on solar, wind, biomass

The University of Missouri is hosting its fourth annual conference today on Advancing Renewables in the Midwest – including solar, biomass, and wind energy production. One ofthe organizers is Jay Hasheider, with Columbia, Missouri Power & Light, “Most of the projects we’re looking at are what I would call are utility scale type of things. Projects that would have a large impact, either through many people putting this on their homes or on one large scaleproject.”

Hasheider says utility companies are exploring more efficient ways of producing power through renewable methods and in doing so will also create new jobs.

Absent from the agenda are farm-raised fuel sources such as ethanol andbiodiesel.
