Farm Futures magazine projects bigger corn acreage in 2010

A survey by Farm Futures magazine shows farmers wanting to plant more corn and fewer soybeans in 2010.

Corn acreage is seen up 500,000 acres to 87.5 million with soybeans down 2.7 million acres to 75 million. Additionally, the survey shows a 2% increase in hard red winter wheat planting, bringing the total planted area to 61.1 million acres.

According to Farm Futures, the shift in acreage reflects the sentiment of the producers they surveyed and planting intentions could easily change by the time plans are finalized over the winter.
