Missouri barge shipping efficient, but can’t get traction

Millions of tons of agriculture goods move on the north-south Mississippi River waterway, but John LaRandeau, a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, says the Missouri River can’t seem to regain a foothold as an agricultural shipping artery. Years of drought combined with other circumstances have reduced ag traffic on the river and LaRandeau says it’s a missed opportunity.
