A closer look at prospective planting estimates

The USDA’s estimate on what growers plan to plant caused a lot of attention and resulted in some movement in commodities markets. University of Illinois Agriculture Economist Darrel Good says at first blush, the report appeared friendly for corn and soybeans, compared to what the market had expected. Good, interviewed by Brownfield’s John Perkins, says a closer examination reveals more.
