What to do about the ethanol blenders’ tax credit?

The possible expiration of the ethanol blenders’ tax credit—VEETC—was a much-discussed topic a recent ethanol issues forum in Omaha. Groups opposed to the extension of the ethanol blenders’ tax credit argue that with the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) mandate in place, the tax incentive is no longer needed. In an interview with Brownfield’s Ken Anderson, Clean Fuels Development Coalition executive director Doug Durante says let’s keep the incentive—but give it the producers of ethanol instead.
