Ethanol rally in Wisconsin

A coalition of ethanol supporters along with the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association and Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance gathered in front of the Badger State Ethanol plant in Monroe Tuesday morning to call on Congress to pass a comprehensive energy bill. The groups say that ethanol is the only viable alternative to oil available today and the best bet to prevent another environmental catastrophe like that in the Gulf of Mexico.

The group called on EPA to raise the blend limit to 15 percent and called on Congress to move quickly on renewal of the import tariff and blenders’ tax credit. In addition, they want all cars sold in America to have flex-fuel capability and federal support to expand the availability of blender pumps across the country. Wisconsin Corn Growers Association president Bob Oleson noted; “No job has ever been sent overseas because of ethanol, no war has ever been fought to protect it and no ecosystem has ever been destroyed because of it.”

A number of similar press conferences being held around the country this week to push Congress to take action.
