Biodiesel producer new chairman of NBB

For the first time, the National Biodiesel Board has elected a biodiesel producer as board chairman. Gary Haer is with Renewable Energy Group in Iowa. He’s one of three Iowans elected to NBB leadership. Haer says the biodiesel industry is “well prepared to meet the opportunities of the future.”

Iowa farmer Ed Ulch, a director of the Iowa Soybean Association, has been elected to serve as vice chair. Ulch says he’s looking forward to biodiesel expansion, especially “new growth in the area of bioheat.”

Producer Jim Conway of Griffin Industries in Iowa has been elected treasurer. Ron Marr of Minnesota Soybean Processors has been elected NBB secretary.

The Iowa Soybean Association is one of the founding members of the National Biodiesel Board.
