Close examination should precede expansion

These are flush times for growers who have a bountiful crop to sell. But before one succumbs to the temptation to expand, there are several things to consider. The strong commodity prices have resulted in higher input prices such as cash rents. Water Street Solutions market advisor Darren Frye suggests looking closely at how much expansion will cost in cash rent and in other inputs before deciding that an operation should grow.
