Forty percent of Kansas wheat rated poor

According to the latest crop report out of Kansas, 40 percent of the state’s wheat crop is rated poor to very poor.

Thirty-five percent of Kansas wheat is rated fair, 23 percent good and only two percent excellent.

A lack of moisture and snow cover are to blame for the deteriorating conditions.  Farmers report that 25 percent of the crop has suffered some degree of freeze damage.
