Addressing issues of concern to the U.S. feed industry

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) represents the business, legislative and regulatory interests of the U.S. animal feed industry and its suppliers. Members include more than 500 domestic and international companies and state, regional and national associations. Member-companies are livestock feed and pet food manufacturers, integrators, pharmaceutical companies, ingredient suppliers, equipment manufacturers and companies which supply other products, services and supplies to feed manufacturers.

At the recent World Pork Expo in Des Moines, we visited with AFIA vice-chairman Al Gunderson of Vita Plus about two key issues affecting the feed industry—implications of the the Food Safety and Modernization Act, and placing limits on speculative activity in commodity markets.
