Employees settle Oscar Mayer donning suit

Current and former employees of the Oscar Mayer plant in Madison, Wisconsin will share a $4.2 million settlement with the company in a donning-doffing suit. Judge Barbara Crabb approved the settlement involving 1,740 employees who worked at the plant between 2005 and 2010.

The workers won a class action lawsuit, filed in 2007. Kraft/Oscar Mayer had appealed all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, but the high court in January declined to take up the case.

Individual amounts range from $1 to about $9,000 with the average payment around $2,500.
