Speaker urges ag audiences to get involved

Bruce Vincent, a third generation logger from Libby, Montana, is the featured speaker in the Iowa Soybean Association’s second annual Ag Matters series of meetings being held this week in Storm Lake, Ames and Williamsburg.

Vincent has become a very popular speaker on the ag meeting circuit in recent years.  He shares the story of how, 20 years ago—before activists thought about agricultural issues like livestock production—they focused on the logging industry, and it was forever changed.

Drawing comparisons between his logging town of Libby, Montana, and rural America, Vincent says democracy works, but is not a spectator sport.  He urges his audience to get involved in building bridges of communication to get the correct information to those who do not know agriculture.

Prior to his Monday evening appearance in Storm Lake, Brownfield’s Ken Anderson visited with Vincent about his message and whether he thinks agriculture is doing a better job of communicating with consumers.
