Over 50% of Indiana now in “extreme drought”
According to the latest US Drought Monitor, more than 50 percent of Indiana is now in D3, or extreme drought. Conditions in the state continue to worsen as last week’s map showed three large areas in D3. Those three areas are now joined in one large section that stretches from the southwest part of the state to the northeast corners.
Parts of Vanderburgh and Posey counties, along the Ohio River, remained in D4, or exceptional drought, the highest level of dryness.
Currently Indiana is over 7.5” below normal precipitation for the year.

How can we still be in a critical drought when this entire area received almost 3 inches of rain yesterday with more to come? Honestly, the rich farmers around me have already started bragging that with crop insurance they will come just fine. Is there any other business where the government gurantees your Revenue and profits? Its a joke really and people are fed up. Most of my friends and neighbors have absolutely no sympathy for these greedy rich farmers. Sorry, but its true.
