Raising bison, not the same as raising cattle
The beasts that were nearly driven to extinction in the 1800s are back. Most of them are being domesticated as much as can be expected. Bison instincts are well intact as is their ability to face harsh Plains seasonal changes. Where bison are concerned, domestication is a relative term. To Kansas farmer Keith Yearout, the attraction of working with a huge livestock animal is still there after nearly three decades of raising and managing them.
