158,000 beef sticks–and counting

At the annual meeting of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) held earlier this month, we ran into Dee Ann Paulsrud of Danbury, Iowa—also known as the “The Beef Stick Lady”.

Paulsrud recently shipped the 158-thousandth Iowa-made beef stick to U.S. soldiers serving overseas.  She started the beef stick project—which she calls “Beef’n Up the Troops”—in 2006 as a way to boost troop morale, thank them for their service and give them a taste of home.

Dee Ann gave us an update on the project.

Paulsrud donates her time to the project and she says as long as the donations keep coming, she will continue sending free beef sticks to the troops.

Donations can be sent to The Beef Stick Lady, 4980 320th Street, Danbury, IA, 51019-8505.  Paulsrud can be reached at 712-883-2249.
