Farmers vary chemistry to deal with resistance

Many farmers have had to deal with glyphosate resistance in a number of weeds. In November, Monsanto, the maker of glyphosate, brand name Roundup, sponsored a forum among four Mid-South farmers to discuss their approaches to dealing with glyphosate resistance. In most instances, their approaches involve more than one chemistry and more than one soybean system. In addition to using Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans, the growers used the Monsanto competitor, LibertyLink Soybeans.

Brownfield Ag News talked to three of the farmers; Gerald Malin, Jr., of Campbell, Mo.; Lucas Goodman, of Hickman, Ky.; and Jesse Flye, of Trumann, Ark.; as well as to Monsanto representatives Dan Kurdys and Tony White.
