Cattle counts take analysts by surprise
Texas A&M livestock economist David Anderson, told Brownfield’s John Perkins that he was taken aback by cattle placements in feedlots being up six percent over what they were a year ago. Anderson points out that the number of cattle on feed is down sharply, five percent under what it was a year ago. But over the last six weeks or so, in Anderson words, “we’ve beaten down feeder cattle prices.”
