Enhancing exports through relationships
Most commodity markets flourish as a result of a robust export market. That’s especially true in the case of U.S. soybeans, over half of which are sold to foreign customers. It turns out that personal relationships are important to maintaining these export markets.
Soybean grower Bob Metz is just as comfortable among a group of Korean soybean buyers as he is among his friends in his tiny South Dakota home town of Peever. In fact, he sees great importance in building and maintaining relationships with foreign customers, whom he also considers to be friends.
