Sand sculpture connects farmers, consumers
Each year the Iowa Food & Family project comes up with a unique, attention-grabbing state fair display that celebrates farming and helps consumers make the connection between the food they eat and the people who produce it.
This year’s display in the south atrium of the Varied Industries building features a 12-foot high sand sculpture illustrating farms, grocery stores, restaurants and a kitchen table. The theme of this year’s display is “What farmers grow makes Iowa go”.
On the opening day of the Iowa State Fair, we stopped by the display and visited with Aaron Putze, coordinator of the Iowa Food & Family Project.
