Grain handling facility coming to Lyman County, South Dakota

The South Dakota and North Dakota cooperative known as Wheat Growers will build a grain handling, fertilizer and agronomy facility in Lyman County, South Dakota, starting this fall. The site, at Kennebec, South Dakota, will be located along the rail line that’s part of South Dakota’s expansion of heavy-rail service from Chamberlain to Presho.

Wheat Growers President Hal Clemensen says the goal is to have the agronomy facility ready for business a year from this coming winter and the grain handling facility completed in time for harvest 2016.

“This is great news for the state and for growers and agribusiness in central South Dakota,” said Dale Locken, Wheat Growers CEO.  “As promised, our farmer-owned cooperative will now move forward with our plans to build a first-class elevator and agronomy facility on the rehabilitated heavy rail line in Lyman County.”
