Agriculture’s voice within EPA

US_EPA_header_staticRon Carleton serves as Counselor to the Administrator for Agricultural Policy at the U.S. EPA. Carleton describes the position as the bridge between EPA and the agricultural community.

“Within the agency I’m the voice for agriculture,” Carleton said. “It is my responsibility to make sure that as issues are being considered and discussed and before decisions are made that I make sure that agriculture’s voice is part of that.”

Carleton says in the short time he’s been at the Agency there are a number of issues he’s dealing with, everything from Waters of the U.S. to the Renewable Fuels Standard to pollinators. I’m Dave Russell, Brownfield.

Carleton was most recently deputy commissioner for the Colorado Department of Agriculture but has spent more than 30 years on Capitol Hill handling agriculture, energy, environment, water and land management issues.
