A fourth case of avian flu has been detected at a commercial poultry operation in Minnesota. USDA confirmed the detection of the H5N2 virus in one of three barns on a turkey farm in Nobles County in southwest Minnesota.

The farm has approximately 21,000 birds on the premises according to the Minnesota Board of Animal Health.

The Board is working with the affected farmer to depopulate the flock and says the risk to the public is very low and there continues to be no food safety concern.

Avian flu was confirmed last month in the Minnesota counties of Pope, Lac Qua Parle and Stearns.

The virus has also infected poultry operations in Missouri, Arkansas and California.
