Poultry projects take on different look
The statewide ban of all live bird shows because of avian influenza is bringing about changes to the poultry exhibits at the 2015 Ohio State Fair.
Tom Price, chairman of the Expo Commission says the ban was the right decision and one the Ohio State Fair fully supports. Price also says they’re not forgetting about the junior fair poultry exhibitors.
“I hope we have a positive output from it, because the kids and still have their projects, we’re going to do something at the Sale of Champions to embrace that, projects will continue,” Price said. “I think it shows the kids that life isn’t always fair and bad things happen to good people once and a while and we just had to go through with it.”
In 2014, there were 3,708 poultry entries at the Ohio State Fair, with nearly 25 percent of those entries being junior fair exhibitors.
