Talawanda FFA heading to Louisville
The Talawanda FFA Chapter at Oxford, Ohio gets to watch one of their members compete for a National Proficiency award at the National FFA Convention this week.
Troy Mabis is a National Proficiency Finalist in Landscape Management. He’s the sixth National Finalist from Talawanda, but the first National Finalist for Mike Derringer who has been teaching Ag Education for nine years.
“To me it means we’re doing something right, but I know that already,” said Derringer. “We don’t need awards and laurels to let you know you’re doing a good job.”
49 members of the Talawanda FFA will be attending the National FFA Convention where they’ll interact with FFA members and ag students from all over the world…
“Networking with students from all 50 states, Guam, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, there are many countries that visit that have similar youth organizations involved in agriculture as well,” Derringer said. “The networking alone is worth the price of admission, these students will have an outstanding time.”
The 88th National FFA Convention continues through Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
