Programs ICON

The USDA reports U.S. poultry production in December declined because of slower slaughter rates and a lower preliminary live weight.

The total of 3.850 billion pounds for December 2015 was down 1% from December 2014.

The total live weight of all poultry and monthly chicken kill were also 1% lower than a year ago at 5.085 billion pounds and 731.484 million head, respectively.

U.S. poultry production for 2015 was 37.228 billion pounds, 4% more than in 2014.
