USDA Deputy Ag Secretary Krysta Harden has announced she will be leaving the department at the end of February.

Harden says the decision is bittersweet and that she’s proud of what USDA has accomplished since 2009, including the creation of economic opportunities for rural America and implementation of the 2014 Farm Bill.

Harden thanked President Obama and Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack for the opportunity and said as the proud daughter of farmers, her work on behalf of agriculture has been the greatest honor of her life.

To ensure continuity of operations, Vilsack named current under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse as acting Deputy Secretary.
