Minnesota Corn Grower running for NCGA board

Tom Haag

A member of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association is one of eight candidates running for five open seats on the NCGA Board of Directors.

Tom Haag of Eden Valley says the time is right to have Minnesota representation on the national level.

“It’s been a number of years since Minnesota has had a representative on the NCGA Board, and we’ve been holding off other candidates that didn’t have the extra time.”

He tells Brownfield having a son at home who can take on more responsibility on the farm will allow him to honor NCGA board commitments, and his presence would benefit Minnesota farmers.

“We’re the fourth largest corn-producing state and number two in membership.  There are a lot of issues coming down the road effecting Minnesota (and) other states, and I think it’s time we have a voice on the board to get some of Minnesota’s concerns and help our policy going forward for our younger farmers.”

Haag, a former Minnesota Corn Growers Association president, says water quality and renewable fuels are two of the issues he views as most important to Minnesota corn farmers.

The NCGA board of director candidates were announced at Commodity Classic and the elections will be held during Corn Congress in July.
